INSPIRATION

What inspires the men in black, the asphalt cowboys?  The Monroe Iron Coffins Motorcycle Club is inspired by children… blind and handicapped children to be exact.

The Coffins are hosting their 8th annual CRAZY SUE Memorial benefit on April 30, 2005.  The event honors an ICMC member named Crazy Sue, Milan Vladetic, but only as a representative of all ICMC members that are now riding a clouded, or fiery, highway.  Originally, the run started out with 25-50 members, last year over 800 guests came out to support the run and the benefit auction.  Kurt Sebaly, biker and executive director of the Penrickton Center for the Blind is an avid supporter of all bikers, as he’s found they’re generous both with their money and their time.

Penrickton, located in Taylor, Michigan, is a five-day residential and day care agency serving blind children ages 1-12, with one additional disability.  Penrickton provides a number of unique programs and services to their families at no charge.  The Center does not receive any state federal, United Way or insurance monies.  Instead, they rely solely on donations from individuals, businesses, and caring supporters, like the Iron Coffins of Monroe County.  This approach has been successfully supporting Penrickton Center for over 52 years.  The Center’s website is kept current, check out www.penrickton.com  for additional information.

Following a bike run to local Monroe County supporters, a Silent Auction was held featuring, to name only a few, items from Roger Bourget, Bourget Bike Works in Phoenix, Arizona; Indian Larry’s Gasoline Alley in Brooklyn New York; and Kid Rock merchandise raising and donating a substantial amount for the kids at the Penrickton Center.  After feeding the ravishing crowd, the shining glory of the evening was the band (the same band will be with us in 2005)S R A – Southern Rock Allstars, with founding or former members of Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, and the Rossington Band who really kick-ass!   SRA is an exceptional representation of what makes Southern Rock great!  With a unique combination of talent, they’ve carved out their own sound and blazed their own clear-cut path WITHOUT leaving their roots behind.  Their newest double CD “Trouble’s Comin’ – LIVE!” is available at www.southernrock.com .

We invite all you HORSE enthusiasts, real bikers, generous souls, to come out for the Crazy Sue Memorial Benefit and help support those inspirational kids at the Penrickton Center.  For more information call 734/848-9927 or visit the ICMC website www.ironcoffinsmc.com
